Blackhawks beat Devils in shootout, 2-1!

The Blackhawks came back to tie the game with 26 seconds left in regulation when Kris Versteeg got one past Devils goaltender, Martin Brodeur.

It was a fluke goal that appeared to hit off a Devil skate in front.

The game wound up being decided in a shootout. Jonathan Toews of the Blackhawks scored the lone goal to give his team the victory.

Ilka Kovalchuk scored the only Devil goal of the night just 5:49 into the first period.

It was his 40th goal of the season.

This game was played without a single penalty being called all night.

I don't remember ever seeing that happen in all the hockey games I've seen over the years.

I like to think it's a very rare occurence.

As far as I'm concerned, it was a historical game.

no penalties, holy crap. Wow!

I think the closest thing to that that we saw was a college football game where one team held the ball for an entire quarter. Sept' 06 - Auburn/South Carolina. Auburn gets second half kickoff and scores td on 9 min drive, then recovers onside kick and scores td on 1st play of 4th quarter. Like your situation, I have no idea if that's ever happened before either....pjf
