Royalty goes to Pawtucket, Rhode Island for minor league baseball after Boston Bombing!

After the King & I and our pals Vincent Ascanio and Phil Butleman had dinner we drove back to McCoy Stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox who are also known as the PawSox.

We wound up parking on the street for free a few blocks away. We walked over to the box office area so we could get tickets. As we were trying to find out the ticket prices, a lady said she had five extra tickets that she was giving away. We told her we needed four. She said here you go. She said make sure you don't sell them. We told her we definitely won't. We thanked her very much. Apparently tickets cost $8 because she told us she just saved us $32. We were very grateful especially after the horrific afternoon we endured in the Boston area.

We lucked out in more ways than one on that day. We count our blessings that we continue to find good people that exist in this crazy world.

We all proceeded to go inside and we enjoyed the game. We saw the PawSox, the Red Sox Triple A affiliate in the International League play the Lehigh Valley IronPigs who are the Philadelphia Phillies farm team.

As for the game we saw, the IronPigs scored first as Josh Fields, their first baseman hit a solo homer to make it a 1-0 game in the second inning. In the third inning, the PawSox responded with three runs to take a 3-1 lead after three innings. It stayed that way until the top of the eighth inning when the IronPigs batted around as they scored five runs to take a 6-3 lead. In the ninth inning, Josh Fields hit another home run, this time a two run blast that make it a 8-3 game. That's the way it ended as the announced crowd of 5,299 went home unhappy. Since it was a family oriented crowd I'm sure they enjoyed the festivities regardless of the outcome of the game itself.

After visiting Fenway Park Sunday afternoon, Royalty made a pit stop on the way home to Pawtucket, Rhode Island which is 50 miles from Boston.

We went to see a minor league game between the Norfolk Tides the Triple A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and the Pawtucket Red Sox aka the Pawsox.

The Pawsox wound up winning the game, 5-4!

As for the ballpark, it's a very nice place to watch a game.

Around 5 years ago the ballpark under went some renovations to get it up to Triple A standards.

The original backstop and seating area remain intact.

They expanded the seating area and they added additional seats include lawn seating in the outfield which is very popular in the minor leagues.

If you happen to be passing through Rhode Island you may want to get off in Pawtucket which is right outside of Providence.

Royalty returns to Fenway Park this weekend!

It's the unofficial start to summer this weekend.

To celebrate Royalty is heading back to fabled Fenway Park in Boston to see the Kansas City Royals take on the Red Sox.

In addition, we'll be taking a ride to Pawtucket, Rhode Island Sunday night as well to see the Paw Sox, the Triple A affiliate of the Red Sox.

Annual Visit to Fenway Park Royalty Style is Set for Memorial Day Weekend

Once again baseball season is almost upon us. That means a quick getaway trip to Boston to see the Red Sox play in their fabled ballpark, Fenway Park is on the schedule for the King and I.

Royalty has already seen an event in Fenway this year on New Year's Day when the NHL decided to play its Winter Classic there. You can get all the details from that on a previous post I put up.

As for the baseball visit, it will be as follows:

Saturday, May 29th Kansas City Royals play the Red Sox at 7:10PM that night. In addition, we'll be staying over in the area as well.

Sunday, May 30th the two teams meet again at 1:35PM. After that game, we have another baseball game on tap in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The Red Sox top minor league affiliate, the Pawtucket Red Sox are playing the Norfolk Tides, the Baltimore Orioles Triple AAA farm team at 6:05PM at McCoy Stadium.

Please note Pawtucket is only 50 miles from Boston. It will make for a nice doubleheader in New England.

In addition, that Monday is Memorial Day so most people are OFF from work.
