Friday night at Citi Field wasn't just another baseball game for me. I had the privilege and honor of meeting another fellow ballpark chaser, Bob DeVries.
Bob is trying to put an end to a deadly disease called SADS. This foundation is starting to draw national attention thanks to a lady named Laura M. Wall.
Two years ago on September 10, 2008, Bob lost his wife Shawn Marie to this horrible disease. He is spending this season going to every major league ballpark to spread the word and make people aware of SADS which stands for Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome.
His campaign is called Where's Bob? Friday night he flew in special from his home in Columbus,Ohio to join 80 families who were invited by the Mets to come to Citi Field to see the Mets play the Phillies and to alert baseball fans of this deadly disease.
Bob stopped by my section 516 to meet and greet me. It was a very difficult day indeed especially for Bob since it was the two year anniversary of his wife's passing.
As we all know life is short. We have to savor every day we're given. You never know when your time is up.
Think about people who are diagosed with SADS. Life is even shorter for them.
I'm doing this special post on Bob's behalf to create awareness amongst us all that SADS is a killer disease and we need to find a cure for it.
Please help join the team to strike out SADS and help save lives.
Thank you for reading.
Yours truly,
Gary Herman
